It was the beginning of the year for a nervous 6th grader. The day was just starting and this 6th grader was returning to class after carrying a note to the second floor for her science teacher. Right before she made it back to class she was asked to report to her councelors office where her life changed forever.
Erin Pryor began her research into dance helping communities after a traumatic event in college. The first performance "The Noise Between the Silence" was created to help those who were affected by 9/11. This performance allowed firefighters, police, young adults and adults to open up to one another about what they have been dealing with all of these years.
It was september 11, 2001. Our 6th grader, Erin Pryor, was told that her father, a New Rochelle FireFighter, was reporting to the World Trade Centers where two planes had hit the Towers. It would be hours before she knew her father was safe and it would be years before the her family would begin to heal.
Our performances address all four stages of trauma to help with the more complicated process of grief.
