Have you ever been faced with great change in your life and the feeling of not knowing how it is all going to work out. For the past couple of weeks I find myself faced with this exact situation which has given me a great deal of time to reflect on my life and I am very thankful for this opportunity.
Life has a way of throwing though times our way and we are challenged to figure out how we want to respond. We can either choose to wallow which will leave us feeling sorry for ourselves. Or we can choose to learn from what is happening which at the time is not easy but in the end makes us stronger. Personally, I enjoy taking on the task of learning from these challenges but I have most recently learned that is easier to tackle these lessons when you have a strong support system. I have been reminded repeatedly of how important family and friends are to be there for you during these hard times.
Today as I sit in the living room of my aunts apartment, waiting for 11 people to show up for Thanksgiving dinner I am humbled and warmed by all of the love! Having the time sitting with my family on the couch watching holiday movies are memories that I will cherish forever and hold on to when life gets hard.
I am eternally grateful for not only the good times but the bad and all of the people that have been there for me. I am also thankful for all of the opportunities that have come my way to be there for others during their hard times and I am even more thankful that I am able to use dance to help others! I know it is not easy to say you may need help and support or that life has gotten to a point that you can not do it on your own but I am happy that their are people out there that have trusted me enough to help them.
During hard times it may be hard to remember what we should be thankful for but I believe that it is during these times that it is most important to be thankful for the good that we do have. On the flip side of this, during our good times we should continue to be thankful and not take for granted what we have in our lives. I challenge you- what are you grateful for?
